Woman of the Year

The Woman of the Year Gala is the signature fundraising event for Women & Children First: The Center Against Family Violence. Each year, one woman is selected for her professional, charitable, and civic accomplishments and celebrated as the central focus of the Woman of the Year Gala. Former honorees include Phyllis Brandon (2007), Cindy Murphy (2008), Millie Ward (2009), Donna Cone (2010), First Lady Ginger Beebe (2011), Linda Gleason (2012), Terri Erwin (2013), Eileen Sotomora (2014), Sharon Bale (2015), The Men Behind the Mission - Chuck Erwin, George Gleason, Chip Murphy, and Dr. Ricardo Sotomora (2016), and Melanie Jackson (2017).

Rev. Betsy Singleton Snyder Named 2017 Woman of the Year

Women & Children First: The Center Against Family Violence announces Rev. Betsy Singleton Snyder as the 2018 Woman of the Year. The organization will celebrate with their annual gala on Saturday, January 20, 2018. 

Betsy Singleton Snyder began her ministry in the United Methodist Church in 1989. She is a graduate of Hendrix College and Perkins School of Theology, SMU (Magna Cum Laude, MDiv). Singleton Snyder currently serves on the Little Rock Zoo Foundation; Women’s Advisory Council, UAMS, FASI (Families Are Special Inc.), Arkansas Interfaith Alliance, and is a member of the Congressional Spouses Club, Washington, D.C.. She has previously been honored by March of Dimes, as a Go Red Survivor and participates frequently in many community, interfaith, ecumenical and justice activities at city and state events.

Singleton Snyder is the author of “Stepping on Cheerios: Finding God in the Chaos and Clutter of Life” (Abingdon Press, 2017), writes a column for Little Rock Family Magazine (Parent-ish). Currently, Singleton Snyder is the primary preacher for the New Heights worship at Pulaski Heights UMC, LR, Arkansas and oversees PHUMC Missions. She is married to Dr. Vic Snyder, former U.S. Congressman, 2nd District, and is the mother of four young boys, Penn, Wyatt, Sullivan and Aubrey. They have two dogs, two cats, fish and any other bug the boys bring into their house.

The 12th Annual Woman of the Year Gala will be held at the Marriott Grand Ballroom. This year’s event is being co-chaired by Tiffany & Daniel Robinson and Natalie & Win Rockefeller. Individual tickets are $300 and tables of 10 are $3,000. Sponsorship opportunities begin at $5,000.
