An Order of Protection is issued by a Circuit Judge, and provides victims of domestic violence who are in immediate and present danger of domestic violence, protection that can be enforced by law enforcement and the courts. Orders of Protection are good in any county in and Arkansas and in any state or territory in the United States. An Order of Protection can be sought in the county where the victim resides, the county where the batterer lives or works, or where the incident occurred
Who can get an Order of Protection?
- Spouse or former Spouse of the batterer
- Persons who are or have resided together
- Persons related by blood
- Parent or guardian of a minor
- Any adult family or household member on behalf of a minor (including a married minor) or
- an adjudicated/incompetent person
- An employee of a shelter
- Persons who are presently, or in the past have been, in a dating relationship
