Meet Betsy – WCF Peacekeeper

Giving back to her community is not something that is a new activity for Betsy Boyette Thompson. She grew up in Camden, AR – a small town where everyone knows everyone, but also a town where people worked hard to help others. Volunteerism was important to her family as well, so she has always been a part of a very giving and involved community. When she opened her Allstate Agency in Little Rock, it was only natural for her to start looking for ways to give back to her new community. Betsy was thrilled to find out that Allstate supports the efforts to end violence against women and children through their Purple Purse Campaign and it was through that connection that she found Women & Children First.

Over the past few years, Betsy has helped WCF, not just by volunteering, but also connecting them with Allstate grants and spreading awareness about the issue of domestic violence in the community. Last year, she officially joined the Peacekeepers and jumped right in. Betsy has served on the event committees for Caribbean Cabaret, Vegas on the Rocks, as well as volunteering for Pop Up Shop and shelter parties. On top of volunteering, she continues to be an advocate for the shelter in the Little Rock community. Although owning a small business has proven to be time consuming and has forced her to scale back her volunteerism, the Peacekeepers is something she just could not give up. “Women & Children First is such a hardworking organization and makes such extraordinary use of their time, I just have to stay involved,” Betsy said. “I’m happy to help women through their difficult times. However, helping the children who are victims of this horrible crime is the real reward.”
