Women & Children First Joins Forces with Ring to Provide Home Security Tools for Survivors
Mayor Frank Scott, Jr. Supports Ring Initiative
LITTLE ROCK, AR (September 27th, 2022) – Women & Children First (WCF), one of Arkansas’s largest domestic violence shelters, is collaborating with Ring to provide resources to survivors of family violence. Ring, whose mission is to make neighborhoods safer, believes in advancing Women & Children First’s services for survivors and their families and programs to build stronger communities.
Ring’s donation of up to 1,000 Ring Video Doorbells and Stick Up Cameras will go directly to Women & Children First to be shared by advocates with survivors on a case-by-case basis, supplementing the organization’s safety planning. The protection doesn’t stop there, as Ring’s donation includes a free Ring Protect Plan subscription for the life of each device.
This collaboration between Women & Children First and Ring was announced at a press conference this morning at the Women & Children First shelter. In addition to the donation of devices, Ring will provide a monetary contribution to Women & Children First to advance their mission of providing safety, strength, and hope to all victims of family violence.
“Abusers use many different tactics to scare those they hurt,” said Angela McGraw, WCF Executive Director. “One example is coming to victims’ homes without an invitation, either to scare or stalk them. To be able to add Ring devices into a survivor’s safety plan is relieving. Not many people get it, but just knowing that Ring is using technology to help bring peace of mind to survivors’ homes is reassuring that we are moving the mark in understanding what survivors are needing from us to keep them and their families safe. We are so extremely appreciative to Ring for working with us to help survivors and to Mayor Scott Jr. for expressing his support.”
“Contributing to the safety of our neighborhoods is one of my top priorities,” said Mayor Frank Scott, Jr. “I’m honored to support Women and Children First’s collaboration with Ring to advance the safety tools available for survivors in Little Rock. This donation will help survivors feel safe in their homes as they rebuild their lives and recognizes the critical, everyday contributions of Women and Children First to our community.”
“Women & Children First has worked tirelessly over the past 40 years to empower victims to live independently and free from domestic violence,” said Karla Torres, Head of Community Engagement at Ring. “We’re proud to learn about their supportive services in Little Rock, contribute to safety planning for survivors and their families, and extend their local impact.”
