Meet Dr. Christie Beck, WCF Board Member
Dr. Christie Beck, an Alabama native, moved to Little Rock when she attended medical school at UAMS. After graduating in 2006, she decided to remain in Little Rock for her OB/GYN internship and residency at UAMS. This is her 6th year in private practice at Little Rock Gynecology and Obstetrics, PLLC, where she has carried on the practices of now-retired physicians Drs. Janet Cathey and Karen Kozlowski. She is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Dr. Beck takes a holistic and integrative approach to gynecology and obstetrics and sees the importance of the spiritual side of pregnancy and healing. She continues to expand her practice of providing intuition-based prenatal care for women seeking natural and un-medicated childbirth at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. In 2014, she trained with Gurmukh at Golden Bridge in Hollywood, California to become the state’s only Khalsa Way certified prenatal yoga instructor.
When approached to join the Board of Women and Children First, Dr. Beck accepted without hesitation. “Part of my life is dedicated to caring for women and delivering their children gently and safely into this world. The other part of my life is devoted to nurturing my own children. I am very excited to bring my unique experience and skill set to this amazing mission. I am looking forward to this opportunity to contribute to empowering women to live safely and independently when life has become scary and hopeless. I believe this organization’s work is paying dividends not only in the community, but also in raising the global consciousness of compassion and love.”
In her free time she enjoys practicing yoga, running, and road biking beyond balancing her medical practice and three children, she has a special interest in nutrition for treatment and prevention of chronic disease. She is both a certified Food For Life instructor and spokesperson in Arkansas for the Washington, D.C.-based Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine. In 2015 she co-founded the “Kickstart Your Health Little Rock” initiative with the Physicians Committee. Dr. Beck will appear in the upcoming documentary “Eating You Alive” (http://www.eatingyoualive.com) and dreams of publishing her own original cookbook someday. In addition to serving on the WCF Board, has served the community in many roles, including membership in the Circle of Red, the Board of Directors of the Arkansas Ovarian Cancer Coalition, and is the newly appointed President of the Board of Directors for the Arkansas House of Prayer.
