Meet Nicole – WCF Peacekeeper

Nicole Winters has been a Peacekeeper for just about a year, but the mission of WCF is something that has long held a very close place in her heart. “I have several close family members that are survivors of domestic violence,” Nicole shared. “As a child and through my teens I studied martial arts, as a teenager, I would help teach women’s self-defense classes. In this roll, I had a number of survivors share their stories with me and as a teenager, this made a huge impact on me.”

Nicole was connected with Women & Children First through the Bowen Chapter of the Arkansas Association of Woman Lawyers. She joined the organization during her first year of law school and WCF is the organization that the group supports. After three years of this level of involvement, she knew she had to get more involved. Last February, Nicole attended the Woman of the Year event as a guest of Windstream’s. It was at the event that she learned about the Peacekeepers and KNEW she had to join. “The Peacekeepers is one of the few organizations that brings absolute peace to your heart,” she said. “Volunteering is easy and I always leave feeling like I received more than I gave. I truly feel like it is an honor to be a Peacekeeper and be able to spread joy and support to those going through some of the darkest times.”

Nicole is originally from Flint, Michigan and currently lives in Benton, AR. She attended the University of South Caroline Upstate for her undergrad and just started her last semester at UALR – Bowen School of Law this week! She works at Windstream Holdings, Inc. as an Analyst in the Legal Department.
