Meet Theresa – WCF Board Member

Theresa has served on the WCF board for one year. She has a special connection to WCF, as she has been a survivor of domestic violence for over 20 years.

“I was in the shelter with my two oldest children”, she shared. “Being in the shelter at that time was very fearful to me, because I was out of my environment. But, the shelter made us all feel at home. They provided us with group meetings, and also helped me to be able to stand on my own two feet and get away from a very violent situation. I never went back. I am who I am today because the shelter provided a getaway for me and my family.”

Today, Theresa is a Case Manager, which she has been for the past 16 years. In her job, she is able to help young ladies make hard decisions and provide them with resources to stand on their own two feet as well. Sitting on the board for Women & Children First is not only an honor to her, but also a way that she can give back to the organization. “I can never express how much this organization means to not only me, but my children as well”, she said. “Thank you, Women & Children First”.
